This year, we’ve even arranged special magic just for parties of 8 or more (ages 3 and up) staying at a selected Walt Disney World® Resort hotel – called Grand Gatherings. 12th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon

Jan. 9, 2005 – Brazilian Adriano Bastos led start to finish Sunday en route to his second victory in the Walt Disney World Marathon. Bastos,26, of Sao Paulo, posted a time of 2:19:16 to lead the field of nearly 9,000 participants.

Bastos’s time was the 18th-fastest time ever in the event and his margin of victory was more than nine minutes over Kevin Beck of Plantation, Fla., who finished second in 2:28:32. Defending men’s champion Matthew Dobson finished fourth this year with a time of 2:33:42.

Amy Shertzer,27, of Colorado was the top female finisher and placed 31st overall with a time of 2:56:06.

New in 2006, the event will consist of a two-day format with the Walt Disney World Half Marathon scheduled for Sat. Jan. 7 and the full Marathon on Sun. Jan. 8.

Race Registration is $95 and includes:

• Race entry
• Official Race Program
• Transportation while on Walt Disney World property
• Commemorative race shirt
• Entry into Post Race Celebration and Awards Ceremony
